Track from upcoming album Home-Grown to be released beginning of 2017

From down in Calcutta where utter misery and violence prevailed,
Satyagraha you hailed
Down to Johannesburg where the 27-year-long prison walls lurked
Down in Memphis a reverend made king, in the face of it all made freedom ring
Down in New York the Dreamweaver weaved his dreams
Believed that he could lead us to peace

Satyagraha they shot you in the chest, they shut the great gates that you’ve opened up
Freedom rode straight into the wall, the dream is dead, seems there’s nothing left
It all seems too much for me, such is the clout of despair everywhere
I come to doubt thee sometimes
Satyagraha, got doubt in my mind
I got nothing

All I’ve ever seen all I’ve ever said
Seems to filter through the prism of how I’ve been bred
They’ve chiselled my perception, deception or not
But how can I believe when there’s nothing I’ve got that seems truly mine
My mind’s a minefield of sorts my head out of sorts, why not the rule of force
Why not the rule of the stronger, the longer I ponder I think the less I am sure

The maxim of my action can only do a fraction of a second
Can only beckon me on for so long
For what I reckon to be black and white, what I reckon to be day and night
Might only be reflection, deception and light
What if not reason but might shouldn’t lastly decide what’s wrong and what’s right

Satyagraha who the fuck am I , who the fuck am I
To tell what’s wrong from what’s right
Father, Mother, Brother, Teacher, Preacher, not sure you’ve taught me right
How can I tell the darkness from light
Satyagraha though you might lead to defeat
I ain’t got nothing but your name to repeat
Ain’t got nothing but that
Satyagraha I ain’t done with you yet
